Vettaikaran Movie
Vettaikaran star casts 'Vijay' & Anushka Shetty' in the lead roles. Vettaikaran is directed by Babu Sivan and produced by M.Balasubramaniam, B.Gurunath Meiyappan and music is scored by Vijay Antony.
Vettaikaran is the much awaited movie of Vijay in the year 2009. Vijay plays the role of an auto driver while the Arundhati fame 'Anushka' does the role of a medical college student.
Vijay playing the role of auto driver reminds us about the Superstar Rajinikanth playing an auto driver in the blockbuster movie 'Baasha' isnt it ? Let us hope that the Illayathalapathy' Vijay

Hanuman sena workers held
Coimbatore,Dec16 : About 70 Hanuman Sena workers were arrested here today, for attempting to take out a procession in connection with the 'Hanuman Jayanthi' celebrations,police said.
Since police did not give permission for the organisation to take out a procession, about 60 workers, defying ban, assembled at Sullivan street in Gandhi Park area,and attempted to take out procession, after hoisting a flag,police said.
They were immediately taken into custody.
Meanwhile, a group of Hanuman Sena workers, were taken into custody at Kuniyamuthur on the city periphery for similar attempt, police said.

Heavy rain likely over coastal TN
Chennai,Dec16 : The cyclonic system, which weakened into a low pressure area over Gulf of Mannar, has further weakened into a trough and heavy rain is expected to lash coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the next 36 hours starting 0830 hrs today, MeT officials said today.
"The system, which weakened and turned as low pressure area over Gulf of Mannar and adjoining north Sri Lanka, has further weakened into a trough. Under its influence,heavy rain is likely to occur over coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry over the next 36 hours starting today at 8.30 am", they said.
Fishermen were warned not to venture into the sea as strong winds with speed reaching 45-55 kmph is likely along off Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coast during the period.
Mayiladuthurai in Nagapattinam district recorded maximum rainfall of 15 cm while Chennai registered eight cm in the same period.
Several parts of the city and suburbs experienced heavy rain this morning and several office-goers struggled to reach their destination.
Though the state government declared holiday for schools today, some private educational institutions in the city functioned.
Fire service and rescue services personnel were working round the clock in the city and suburbs to remove uprooted trees.

Karnataka take 1st innings lead against Saurashtra
Rajkot, Dec 16 Riding on Ganesh Satish's (120) century, Karnataka took a 168-run first innings lead against Saurashtra in their Ranji Trophy Super League Group B match here today.
Resuming at 80 for two, Karnataka middle order clicked in unison as three batsmen other than Satish also hit half centuries to take their side to 384 all out in reply to home team's 216 all out.
Amit Verma (68), Manish Pandey (55) and captain Robin Uthappa (62) chipped in to ensure that Karnataka, who have already qualified for quarterfinals, take first innings lead.

TN in strong position at 189 for one on Day 2
Hyderabad, Dec 16 Tamil Nadu came back strongly on the second day as they reached 189 for one in reply to Hyderabad's 347 in their Ranji Trophy Super League Group A match here today.
The visitors, who has already qualified for the quarterfinals, first dismissed six Hyderabad batsmen for the addition of 78 runs in 28.5 overs and then hit 189 for one in the 57 overs in the day.
At the draw of stumps, opener Abhinav Mukund was batting on 66 while Arun Karthik was giving him company on 49.

Orissa tighten noose around HP's neck
Dharamshala, Dec 16 Halhadar Das slammed a blistering 144 as Orissa carved out a 191 first innings lead and then prised out two late wickets to tighten the noose around Himachal Pradesh's neck in their Ranji Trophy Super League Group A match here today.
Resuming day two on 55 for two, Orissa rode on Das' 155-ball 144 and Niranjan Behera's patient 53 to put up 316 in their first innings, 191 ahead of HP's first innings effort of 125.

Ghosal off to flying start in Senior National Open
New Delhi, Dec 16 Saurav Ghosal's title defence got off to a flying start with the top seed blanking Divyanshu Sharma in straight sets in the first round of the Senior National squash championship here today.
Ghosal hardly strained his sinew as he chalked out a comprehensive 11-3 11-0 11-6 win over his opponent from Uttar Pradesh.
